Wowmatrix on curse7/18/2023 ![]() I spoke with 10+ addon devs, and nearly all of them went with Overwolf because they get more money from there, and the community gives them next to zilch for all their hard work. Id like to think at least a good portion of addon devs will not just go along with that. But IMO it also depends on how far the parties are willing to go: will the OW people send C&D letters? will the authors then spend $100,000 on legal fees and risk DMCA jail-time felonies to make a free addon manager? Probably/perhaps - although it did not work out for WoWMatrix. If you can download it then that can be automated completely on your side. But will they? If hundreds of addons were going to be hosted elsewhere in time for SL, I would have expected to have heard a lot more about it by now. You are absolutely correct the creators could address this. And a lot of the addon devs said they were doing this for free and Curse provides a number of time savers - comments, bug reports, doc - that they liked. For one thing, a lot the addons I use are essentially abandonware so will never be moved anywhere. However, that did not happen the first time this came up. I suspect most content creators will just start updating to More sites if things start getting dicey.
